9.0 Earthquake & Tsunami Hits Japan

March 11, 2011

The epicenter of the earthquake was 43 miles east off the coast of Tohoku. It struck at 2:46 PM and caused a massive tsunami that hit the coast about an hour later. While the earthquake was certainly the worst recorded earthquake to ever hit Japan, the tsunami that followed did the most damage. Waves over 100 feet rolled over 6 miles inland leveling everything. So far, the death toll has reached over 15,000 and will probably continue to increase based upon what I'm seeing in these 1st person videos that have been released.
